Abortion

abortionCAREconfidential is a network of independently-run centres that, for twenty years, has been helping women facing unplanned pregnancies or who experience difficulties following an abortion.

Women facing unplanned pregnancies are often under great pressure from circumstances, their partners or the urgency of the situation. Many make choices based more on fear and panic than accurate information and do not have enough time to explore thoroughly what they feel at a deeper level. Women need to be cared for well at this stage of the decision making process so that they can make an informed choice for themselves and their unborn child.

With around 500 abortions taking place every working day, many women struggle after abortion. Some of their stories can be seen on the CAREconfidential website: www.careconfidential.com

CARE confidential has a post-abortion recovery programme called 'The Journey' available through the centres to anyone who needs sensitive support. Thousands of women have accessed help every year through the centres, the national helpline and through the new online counselling system, Online Advisor.
