What does it mean to change the world? It’s a question that many of us ask, but few are able to answer.
At CARE, we believe that world-changing happens one day at a time as Christians live out their faith. Our Leadership Programme, now in its twentieth year, equips new university graduates to live Christianly as they enter the working world. We facilitate the symbiotic growth of personal faith, practical experience, intellectual development and strong networks: the effective building blocks of cultural change. With an alumni community of over 240 people living out their faith in the worlds of politics, the third sector, business, media, education and the church, the lasting impact of the Leadership Programme is self-evident. As one of our 2011-12 graduates said:
“The leadership programme was the perfect step after university, solidifying the foundations of my faith in the context of a challenging work placement, with the support of like-minded Christian peers”
So how does this work? Every September, we take on a group of graduates who commit to full-time, wholehearted participation in the Programme for the following eleven months. They spend four days a week gaining practical experience in voluntary placements, based in parliament, the media or a third sector organisation. The graduates then come together as a group each Friday to study politics, social action and cultural change through a Christian worldview. With lectures and seminars, a set reading list, projects, debates and networking opportunities, the Programme is a formative year of spiritual, personal and professional development.
Applications will open for the 2014-15 Leadership Programme this summer. The deadline to apply is Monday 11 November 2013.
